How to text to Yahoo AIM Messenger

AOL® Instant Messenger™ (AIM) is a free online service that allows you communicate, online, in real time. You can text from your cell phone directly to a buddy on Yahoo Messenger and here's how

Things You'll Need

• Yahoo AIM account
• Cell Phone
• Yahoo Buddy List
• Mobile Texting Plan

Instructions

1. Add the person you want to text, name and cell phone number to your Buddy List. After this is done, you will see a mobile phone icon next to their name.

2. Click on the mobile phone icon and a box will appear titled "SMS Message - John_Buddy" (of course you won't see that particular name). Enter the mobile phone number and click ok.

3. A window opens showing "John Buddy - 6785551212" and below that title you will see this message from Yahoo: 6789770078 will receive your messages on a mobile device. For best results, send a long message, rather than several short messages. (Note: Wireless carriers may charge the recipient fees for receiving and sending SMS messages.)

4. At the bottom you will see your Yahoo name, "Send as: MyYahooName" below is where you will type your message to be sent to your buddy's cell phone. Click send and your buddy will get the message immediately. What she will see is: From: ######## John_Buddy: Hello how is your day Sat, Jan 3 9:17am
