Slice a banana before you peel it? Is it truly possible?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A long needle and a banana.
  1. Step 1

First you need a banana. This technique is great for serving fruit on a fruit platter or for a special breakfast. So make sure that your banana is a nice ripe one. Then you need to acquire a needle. This will work best if you have long, thin, metal sewing needle.

  2. Step 2

Stick the long needle into the flesh of the banana, through the skin.

  3. Step 3

Pivot the needle to move it up and down as far as possible without breaking the skin again. Essentially, you are slicing the banana with the needle.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the process at whatever interval you choose. Your slices can be as large as you want. But be careful not to make your needle incisions to small. Small slices don't usually turn out so well.

  5. Step 5

When you are finished (and right before serving) you can peel the banana and it will already be sliced! Your guests will definitely be "wow-ed" if you just put the unpeeled banana on the plate. Then they will be scratching their heads when they open it to see it sliced!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful. When you make your first incision, be don't push the needle to far so as not to break the skin on the other end.
  • Don't prick yourself with your needle!
