Step 1
First show that you are a responsible tenant by getting past landlords to give you references. This will show you have a good track record and that having a pet has not caused a burden on former and current landlords.
-
Step 2
Second be prepared to pay additional deposit money to secure the rental property you will reside in. Landlords may also charge additional amounts for rent when allowing a pet. You may also be required to pay an up front pet fee that is non refundable.
-
Step 3
Third consider if you have a dog or a train able pet to get professional training and show landlords proof . A professionally trained dog is more likely to gain landlords approval than one that is not.
-
Step 4
Fourth be prepared to accept a property that may not have the newest carpet. Landlords are more likely to let pets in apartments with older carpet that will need to be replaced anyway in a few years.
