Instructions

    • 1

Find an old lawnmower or purchase a cheap one yourself. After you get the lawn mower give it a good examination and make sure no serious damage has been done to it. Also make sure the mower starts and that the pull cord isn't damaged.

    • 2

Clear off your workbench or other designated work station. Make sure all debris and trash is cleaned up and out of the way so that you can work efficiently. Having a clean workspace not only promotes productivity, it increases safety as well.

    • 3

Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the blade in place on the bottom of the mower deck. Remove the blade from the lawn mower drive shaft.

    • 4

Remove the bolts that are holding the engine to the lawn mower deck. Pull the engine free and make sure you disconnect all wires and cords properly. Examine the engine once again to check that you did not inflict any damage while you were removing it from the mower deck.

    • 5

Take a piece of sheet metal and shape it into a bracket. Attach the bracket to the side of the engine. The bracket should be at a 90 degree angle. This particular bracket and its proper placement allows the drive shaft to be connected correctly to the axles.

    • 6

Attach the cog piece to the drive shaft. Take the chain and attach it to the go-kart's axle.

    • 7

Reconnect all the wiring and hook up the carburetor to the gas tube. Fill the tank with gas and pull the cord to start your go-kart engine.
