Deal with Bossy People on Your Job

Bossy means "I must have control." So how do people get this way? Well, from a baby, children are wise enough to know how to control their parents through crying or even temper tantrums. Here are some tips on how to deal with bossy people.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Patience
  • Endurance
  • Much prayer
  • Knowledge
  • Intelligence
  • Understanding
  1. Step 1

Try to understand the character of a bossy person. They usually mean well at what they are doing. Lots of times their peers push them into position because they are always busy doing. This is common in the workplace.

  2. Step 2

Allow them to work and don't take it personal because they are always doing something. People like this thrive when they are working and sometimes they are not able to bear the thought of not being busy. Dealing with this type of person can be challenging.

  3. Step 3

Don't be quick to prejudge and totally dismiss this person. Sometimes he/she may busy themselves because they have some underlying heartaches or problems that they are refusing to deal with.

  4. Step 4

Try to be a friend and win their confidence. Who knows you may be able to help them. The saying goes that it is very "lonely" at the top. All of us need somebody. No man is an island.

  5. Step 5

Be very careful of this bossy character because these people can be very manipulative. As the boss, they do have pull with a lot of people. So, don't walk around with blinders on. Be careful and watchful.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be aware that bossy people like being at work sometimes more than life.
  • Their people skills are not very good because work is more important than building a good relationship with anyone.
  • If you are being pushed around by a bossy person, don't be afraid to take a stand and confront this person if necessary.
  • Good leadership skills takes time and much effort.

on 1/9/2009 I have worked with bossy people at CHURCH! I am such a passive person that there usually isn't a problem except that I don't enjoy my day as much.
