How to Nontoxically Clean Drains
Most commercial cleaners contain toxins that are not good for the planet -- or your family. To keep your home as green as possible, you should use natural ingredients for as many cleaning chores as you can. You can clean the drains in your house without introducing any toxic chemicals into the environment. Does this Spark an idea?

Measure 1/2 cup of salt into the measuring cup.

Measure 1/2 cup of baking soda into the measuring cup.

Pour the mixture slowly down the drain.

Pour 1/2 cup of vinegar slowly down the drain. You are likely to see a chemical reaction between the baking soda, salt and vinegar mixture. This "foaming" reaction is evidence of the mixture reacting to clean your drain. Let it work for about 15 minutes.

Pour about 1/2 gallon of boiling water down the drain to rinse the residue left behind.

Tips & Warnings
Repeat weekly to keep your drains clean and fresh.
Only use this mixture with metal plumbing
Do NOT use this mixture after using a commercial drain cleaner, as it can create dangerous fumes.
