Make a Gift Basket for a Cook

Gift baskets are a lovely way to personalize a gift and be creative at the same time. Gift baskets for cooks are especially fun to put together because there is such a wide range of items you can choose from, depending on the needs and wants of the recipient. Gift baskets for cooks can also be created on a tight budget, and have the added bonus of being a useful gift that anyone can enjoy.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Container to use as a basket
  • Items for the basket of your choice
  • Ribbon and a gift tag
  1. Step 1

Choose a container to use as a basket. Just because it is a gift basket doesn't mean you have to use an actual basket. Try using a large pot, colander or steamer instead. Alternately, a nice salad bowl or wooden fruit bowl can also make a great basket.

  2. Step 2

Add some useful items. Think of what the recipient needs or wants, such as new wooden spoons, a whisk, a garlic press or maybe just a really nice wine opener. Tie these tools together with a nice ribbon and place them in the basket.

  3. Step 3

Add something extravagant. If the recipient loves to cook, try adding a bottle of white or black truffle oil, or some specialty vinegars and wines. If the recipient loves to bake, add some expensive baking chocolate to the basket.

  4. Step 4

Include some fun items. Every kitchen needs a bit of whimsy, so try lining the basket with some holiday themed kitchen towels, or adding a couple of cute coffee mugs. Include some fridge magnets with your picture in them, or a picture of loved ones.

  5. Step 5

Finish your basket off by adding some freshly baked cookies, a coupon for a homemade dinner, or a grocery store or kitchen store gift card. Add a ribbon and gift tag to complete your personalized gift basket.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask the recipient's spouse for ideas as to what to put in the basket.
  • Make sure you don't include anything the recipient might be allergic to.
