Step 1
Are you self conscious when talking with someone else? If so, stop being self conscious of yourself and focus on the other person. Don't make any snap judgements about a person, until you fully know them. The very people that you make those quick judgements about, could possibly lead to a great friendship between you and that person.
-
Step 2
Listen and show interest in the other person. Keep your focus on them and listen to everything they have to say. As you are listening, make memory notes about what the person is socializing about. It could be about their: interests, school, career, family, music, or shopping experience.
-
Step 3
As you were showing interest and listening, now it is time to bring the conversation towards the things that they enjoy talking about. Whether it was about their shoes, clothes, music, or whatever it may be talk about those things.
-
Step 4
Follow their lead by listening and asking questions. Without interruptions, ask them questions based upon the subject that you are in conversation about. This shows how well you have been listening and your interest in the other person.
