Things You'll Need:
- Money
- Hamster
-
Step 1
Go to a pet store. Choose between a normal cage, or a plastic aquarium-like one. The aquarium is better for hamsters, as you can put slides and tubes in.
-
Step 2
Before you purchase the cage you like, make sure it is safe. If it is a cage with bars, make sure your hamster can not injure itself by gtrying to force its way out. For this reason, aquariums or plastic cages are encouraged more. However, aquariums are difficult to clean
-
Step 3
When you go home, put your hamster inside. Try to coax him/her in, and DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE force him in. If you do, it wikll become frightened.
Note: if you cage is an aquarium with slides, tubes and other things like that, it may take quite a long time to set up. -
Step 4
Some cages come with essentials such as food bowls water bottles wheels etc. If they dont make sure that ytou purchase these thing along with a hamster ball (if you dont have one). Toilets are optional, but if you are low on funds, not really needed.
-
Step 5
Also, bedding is a must. There are some types of bedding that can cause respiatory problems in your hamster, so it is probvably best trhat you talk to the pet store owner about this.
-
Step 6
ANOTHER NOTE: Aquariums usually have extra holes where you can put EXTRa tubes, if you want some. Although cages with bars are generally more convenient, the aquariums are way more fun and exciting.
