Things You'll Need:
- The internet
- a car
- gasoline
-
Step 1
Use the internet to find the cheapest gas prices around. You don't have to go several towns over, just find the lowest price in your area, and plan to go to that particular gas pump. You would be surprised at the variety of prices at the gas stations just in your own town.
-
Step 2
Change your oil as recommended by your car dealership/mechanic. Keep your car as well maintained as possible - don't forget routine tune ups, and all other upkeep. If you keep your car well maintained your purse will thank you - you will spend less money on gas.
-
Step 3
Consolidate your routine trips. Instead of going to the market on one day, the post office on another, and the bank on a separate day, do everything as close together as possible, all on one day. Don't go out of your way to go to the mall - go to your local stores to get items you need.
-
Step 4
If you are meeting friends out and about, make sure you meet them in a central location. Make sure that everyone has to travel approximately the same distance so that everyone saves money.
-
Step 5
Try carpooling to work - you would be surprised at how many of your coworkers are willing to pay you for picking them up - or how many will be willing to give you a ride if you pay them a set amount every week.
