Two different temperature scales, Celsius and Fahrenheit, are used in different parts of the world. If you’re familiar with one system and travel to an area that uses the other, you need to know how to convert temperatures. After all, it helps to know how to dress for the day’s weather.

Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit

Multiply 1.8 by the degrees Celsius that you know.

Add 32 to the result.

The total is the target temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.

Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius

Subtract 32 from the degrees Fahrenheit that's known.

Multiply 0.56 and the result of the subtraction step.

The product is the target temperature in degrees Celsius.

  • Using a calculator makes the multiplication easier.
