Karate Punch (Your hand should look like this)

To throw a fist like a karate master, position your hand in a fist facing up. Your thumb should be on top of your fingers so you do not risk breaking it. Keep your knees about shoulder width apart and slightly bend them. Once you are in proper stance, you can begin practicing.

  2. Step 2

To get maximum power start with your fist on your hip, with your elbow pointing directly behind you. Approximately halfway through extending your arm, your fist will turn 90 degrees as if you are holding a candle.

  3. Step 3

Continue extension. Upon contact, twist your wrist to complete the additional 90 degrees. Your fist is now facing down. Follow through, and act as if you are punching through your target. Practice makes perfect, so keep trying to achieve a maximum forceful blow. Research local karate schools and seek a traditional style that is focused more on fighting.
