Meteor Showers are beautifully wondrous events that steak across the sky. Because the magnificent show is more easily seen in the night skies or the early hours of the morning, it can be moderately challenging to wake up to catch a glimpse of the beautiful natural wonders!

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a calendar on the current year's meteor shower peak days and times.

    http://www.seasky.org/astronomy/astronomy_calendar_2009.html

    http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/highlights/36787804.html

    Links are below.

  2. Step 2

Make a copy of it or mark the dates and best viewing times on your personal calendar.

  3. Step 3

Set your alarm so you won't miss it! Meteor showers are best observed in the night sky or early morning hours. Often it requires arising from sleep to view the spectacular show!

  4. Step 4

View from the best vantage point at your home: From a window, from your back porch or deck, from your yard, etc. DO NOT GO ON TOP OF THE ROOF! That is too dangerous!

Meteor showers occur during both warm and cold months. If viewing during the winter, dress properly so as not to get sick.

  5. Step 5

Keep your keys with you. Do not lock yourself out of the house! Because of the unusual observation times, if you watch from outside your home, make sure there are others with you for safety purposes.

  6. Step 6

Throw an early morning but "quiet" party to make it a more festive occasion. Invite friends/relatives to the festivities. Prepare snacks if you like, or skip the snacks altogether. If it's warm outside, make it pajama party (decent pajamas). If you have to work the next morning, have the party on the weekend, if the meteor shower is still peaking during the weekend.
