Fresh cut chervil is a very delicate herb of French origin. From pasta, stews to omelets, chervil is a popular herb professional chefs like to utilize. Many chefs prefer using fresh versus dried chervil because fresh chervil's flavor is more bright and clean tasting. When you purchase fresh cut chervil, there are some ways of keeping this herb fresh for the recipes you want to use it in.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper towel
  • Plastic sealable bag
  1. Step 1

Rinse your fresh cut chervil in cold water. Warm or hot water may wilt this delicate herb.

  2. Step 2

Lay the wet herb bunch in the center of a paper towel. Wrap the towel loosely around the herb.

  3. Step 3

Place the paper towel packet inside a plastic bag. Seal the bag and place in the fridge.

  4. Step 4

Store the baggie in the vegetable drawer of your fridge. Make sure you do not crush the herb. This will expedite the decaying process.

  5. Step 5

Check the paper towel each day for moistness. Sprinkle water on the packet if need. If the paper towel becomes too wet, then replace with another paper towel. A drenched paper towel may also expedite the decaying process.
