Crock pot French onion soup is so simple you can make it anytime. French onion soup won't be a special occasion dish anymore. You can make crock pot French onion soup in as little as four hours. It's a great dish for a crowd. You can start it early in the day and the finish is very easy.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cans beef consume
  • 2 cans beef broth
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 5 small onions, sliced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • grated gruyere cheese
  • French bread slices
  1. Step 1

    Peel and slice the onions for the crock pot French onion soup. Place them in the bottom of the crock pot.

  2. Step 2

    Add the beef consume and beef broth as well as the water.

  3. Step 3

    Add the dry onion soup mix to the crock pot French onion soup.

  4. Step 4

    Cover the crock pot and turn it on. If you cook on high it will be ready in 4 hours. If you cook on low it will be ready in 8 hours.

  5. Step 5

    To serve ladle the soup into oven proof bowls, add a slice of French bread and top with the cheese. Place under broiler until cheese is melted. If you don't have oven proof bowls, put the cheese on the bread and broil to melt then float the bread in the bowl of soup. This method is a good option if serving crock pot French onion soup to a crowd.
