Things You'll Need:
- Cold water wool wash
- Clean sink
- Running cold water
- Clean bath towel
- Flat surface for drying
-
Step 1
In my opinion, hand washing is the best method to wash a wool sweater. It is gentle on the fibers, quick and easy. Be sure to purchase special laundry soap made especially for wool and fine washables.
-
Step 2
Be sure to start with a clean sink. Run enough cold water in the sink to cover the sweater. Add the recommended amount of cold water wash laundry soap to the running water. Turn the water off.
-
Step 3
Immerse the sweater into the soapy water and gently rub back and fourth to get the sweater clean. Once you are satisfied that your sweater is clean, drain the soapy water from the sink. Keep the soapy sweater in the sink. Turn on the cold water and fill the sink again to remove the soap from the sweater. Gently swish the sweater in the clean cold water until all soap is removed. Drain the water again.
-
Step 4
Press the sweater in the sink until you squeeze most of the water out of the sweater. Next, lay a clean bath towel on a flat surface. Carefully place the wet sweater in the towel and roll it up jelly-roll style. Press down on the sweater and towel to remove all excess water. Unwrap the towel and sweater. Now place the clean sweater on a flat surface to dry completely.
