A CAD designer earns anywhere from $40,000 to $50,000 a year in salary, making CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) drawings of parts, buildings, or anything else. Most CAD designers need a background in engineering, a two year or four year degree and training on the CAD workstation software. A CAD Operator just needs to know the software, and can actually start working after a few months of classes.
