Twitter has become such a popular social network website and you will want to personalize your twitter background wallpaper image. The problem is that it is not always easy to find a free twitter background design that is for you. It is extremely easy to make a twitter background yourself that will be custom and have the color and design that you want in no time at all.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • A twitter account
  • An image
  • Photo editor or graphic editor
  • A little time
  1. Step 1

First you will need an image or picture that you want to use for your twitter background layout. There are lots of websites to find free photos and vector images or royalty free ones that are very cheap. I like to use photobucket.com for my images since they are free to use. There are LOTS of pictures and images so be sure you can describe what you are looking for to search for it and have some time to go through them. You can also use any picture that you may already have but make sure that the subject or objects are large enough that it will still look okay as you will have to enlarge it to fit the computer screen.

  2. Step 2

If you don't have photo editing software or graphics editing software like Adobe Photoshop don't panic. There are many applications that you can download free on the internet. My favorite is paint.net which is very similar to Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Paint. I have found this to be easier to use than Paint since I can manipulate the image as I please.

  3. Step 3

When you upload your image to make a twitter page, you need to resize the canvas or work area. The twitter background size I use is the same dimension I use for making blog template or layout. Under print size, set it to a width of 14.50 inches by a height of 11.00 inches. This may seem rather large but it ensures that the page layout will cover the entire area on your computer screen which can vary depending on which browser you use.

  4. Step 4

Once you have your twitter image uploaded, you can crop it or change it how you would like. Just make sure it covers the whole work area in your photo editor. You can also layer other images onto the same image if you choose. The possibilities are quite endless. When you are done, name your file and save your file as a gif, jpg, or png file in order to upload it to twitter. You will also need to make sure that the file size is 800k or smaller which you can see when you are saving it. If it is too large, you can resize your background image and save it again. Make sure you know where you are saving your image file so that you can find it again when you are ready to upload your twitter design.

  5. Step 5

To upload a twitter background, log into the twitter website and go to the settings tab. Click on change background image. Click on browse and find your background image file. Click on save changes to upload your background image file. Once it is saved you should see the change take effect and your new twitter background will be up for you to enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Background image files for twitter must be 800k or smaller and a gif, jpg, or png file
  • Once you have customized your page you can change the design colors to match your new twitter design
  • Be careful not to use a copyright image without permission from the owner
