Step 1
Treat the stain before it sets. If the room is dark, use a blacklight to find cat urine stains. They will glow bright yellow on everything from your furniture to the walls.

After you've found the cat urine, retrieve white vinegar from your pantry. Avoid colored versions like apple cider vinegar, which will only stain your carpet worse.

Step 3
Mix 1/3 parts vinegar and 2/3 parts water together. Dip an old towel into the liquid. Instead of scrubbing back and forth, press the towel down for max absorption.

Step 4
Wring the cloth out and dip it into the mixture again. Use it to absorb more urine until the mess is gone. Wash your hands and dispose of the towel afterward.
