Make a Home Movie of Your Kids

Making a home movie of your kids is easy and years down the road, you'll be glad you did.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Camcorder
  • Computer that can capture video
  • Video editing software
  • Dvd burner
  1. Step 1

Take cute video of your kids. This is really the fun part of the process. Take your camcorder to the beach, school, or any family gathering. To make the editing process as easy as possible, use a camcorder that is digital and uses minidv tapes.

  2. Step 2

Connect your camcorder to your computer and capture video. The fastest way to capture video is thru the use of an IEEE 1394 firewire port. If you're looking into buying a computer for video editing purposes, make sure your computer has at least one firewire port. USB is not sufficient.

  3. Step 3

Edit video clips together. This part is also pretty fun. Slice and dice together sections of video that form a story.

  4. Step 4

Add a musical soundtrack. Pick songs that have an emotional tie to the things happening on the screen or just pick an upbeat song that you like.

  5. Step 5

Burn movie to dvd. This can sometimes be tricky. If your dvd burner ends up spitting out coaster, you may want to try a different brand of dvd media. Make sure that your dvd burner supports the type of dvd media you have purchased.

  6. Step 6

    Enjoy!
