expensive or cheap to maintain? It's up to you!

Pools are expensive to operate if you don't know some of these tips. Take a look and cut your pool expenses a bunch.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy chlorine in bulk, tablets and powder. You'll use it eventually and it's much cheaper per pound. Keep it sealed tight so it doesn't activate in the drum. Pull our your chlorine tablets when you shock the pool until the chlorine level comes back down...why waste expensive tablets?

  2. Step 2

Run the pump only long enough to get and keep the water clear. That's all the running time you really need. Get a time clock installed to do this automatically. Coordinate the automatic pool cleaner running time with the pump time.

  3. Step 3

Buy a solar blanket and use it! This is the BIGGEST money saving accessory you can get. It will add 10-15 degrees of FREE heat. It will cut down on heat loss at night. It will cut down on chemical loss to the atmosphere. It will keep the pool much cleaner. Keep it on the pool when not in use until the water gets too warm.

Tips & Warnings
  • watch the pool closer until you get used to running it less
  • Keep the chemical balance in check as needed. Remember the chlorine feeder only works when the pump is running. Supplement with granular CL2 if needed.
