Get Rid of Pop-Up Spyware

Everyone with a computer and internet connection is faced with pop-up spyware at one time or another. There are several free programs you can use to remove these annoyances from your system. This tutorial will show you where to get them and how to use them to effectively get rid of pop-up spyware.

Instructions

    • 1

Follow the link in the resources section to download Lava Soft Ad-Aware Free. Click the green download button and save the file to your computer, then open and install the program.

    • 2

Run the program and check for updates if you are prompted. Click the "start" button at the bottom right corner of the screen. Select "perform full system scan" from the list and click the "next" button. The program will then scan your system for adware, which is what causes pop-up spyware.

    • 3

Wait for the scan to complete, which can take several minutes. Click the "next" button at the bottom right of the screen. Check the boxes next to the critical objects and click "next" again. Click "ok" at the prompt to remove the objects.

Follow the second link in the resources section to download Spybot Search and Destroy. Click one of the blue "download here" buttons and save the file to your computer, then open and install the program.

    • 5

Run the program and click the "Check for Problems" button to begin the scan. This program will remove any pop-up spyware that Ad-Aware may have missed. Wait for the scan to complete. Your progress will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

    • 6

Click the "Fix selected problems" button in the center of the screen to remove the objects the scan revealed. Click "yes" when prompted to continue with the removal. Restart your computer and you should now be pop-up spyware and adware free.
