Things You'll Need:
- laundry baskets
- laundry soap
- magic marker
- white board
-
Step 1
Saturday morning, your first day to sleep in all week and you have to wake up to laundry. Not anymore! First you get a laundry basket for each member of your family. Take the magic Marker and write their names on their baskets. This will keep all confusion of one big heaping pile of laundry and sorting who's is who's.
-
Step 2
Go to your white board and make a schedule of who's laundry gets done on what day.
Leave Monday for a family night. Start with Tuesday and probably the one who has the most laundry. I have found that if you start with the one who has the most dirty clothes in the week it helps to slow down their changing so much. If it is a child, they should choose an outfit for each day of the week so they are not throwing clothes all over the room every morning. Those just end up in the laundry too. -
Step 3
Go through with the rest of the week and the rest of the family. I have 7 in my family so we are doing a single load of laundry every night. With my 3 year old having the least amount this is when I do towels too. This routine leaves more time for your weekends to be your weekends and not the washing machine.

on 1/1/2009 Great tips! Since I had surgery, I can't do a thing, and so I taught my kids to do their own, now they're all independent and self-efficient. Next step, cleaning the bathrooms! (eeeeww) 5*
