the way to keep your hound around

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • dog leash
  • nylon choker collar
  • outdoor gated play yard
  • a bicycle
  1. Step 1

train your hound to walk on the leash, indoors, out of doors, out and about.

  2. Step 2

the only time to let your hound off leash & free to roam is when all exits, gates, doors, fences & so on are closed and secured,& cannot be opened by your sighthound. this is the humans duty.

  3. Step 3

now teach anyone & everyone who might come onto your property to never-never-never allow this dog go out without the leash&collar on and under the owners control.

  4. Step 4

every day once or even twice a day get on your bicycle and take your sighthound for a run.
there are belts with leashes especially designed for taking your dog for a run using your bicycle, I recommend using one.

  5. Step 5

do spend some one-on-one time with your sighthound to develop a bond.
do feed your dog several hours before running so to not upset his/her stomach.
do let your dog have water free to drink at all times.

Tips & Warnings
  • once any sighthound gets away from you, loose and not restrained on leash, boy can they run very far just for the fun of running. the only drawback is that they never remember the path they took.
  • of course this is just a very generalized topic however specific to the dog category of SIGHTHOUND; afghans, borzoi, saluky, greyhound, and more.
