Poker Roulette is a card game loosely based on the game of poker. In the end, the player with the best poker hand wins the round, but how you put together your poker hand depends on both luck and skill. Players must match cards of rank or suit to a community card to add them to their hand during the round. At the end of the round, any cards you win can be used to form your poker hand.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deck of playing cards
  • Pen or pencil
  • Sheet of paper
  1. Step 1

Find a group of friends to play Poker Roulette against. The Poker Roulette game requires a minimum of three players and has a maximum number of five players. The ideal number is either three or four players.

  2. Step 2

Deal one card face down to each player. This is the start of each player's stockpile. The player may look at his own card.

  3. Step 3

Deal two additional cards face down to each player. These are the active cards for each player. Now deal one card face up in the center of the table.

  4. Step 4

Direct each player to flip her active cards face up. A player can add any of her active cards to her stockpile that either match the face-up card's rank or suit.
If a player has two active cards that match the rank of the face-up card, not only does she add both of her cards to her stockpile, but she also adds the face-up card to her stockpile. If the card flipped face-up in the middle of the table is a joker, each player that does not have a joker as an active card gets to place both of her active cards in her stockpile. This also happens if a player has a joker as one of her active cards, and the face-up card in the middle of the table is not a joker.
If the player either has both of her active cards as jokers, or one is a joker and the face-up card in the middle is a joker, both active cards for that player are discarded.

  5. Step 5

Discard any cards that did not get added to a player's stockpile during that round to a discard pile. These cards are out of play.

  6. Step 6

Deal two new face-down cards to each player that added at least one card to his stockpile in the round. If a player failed to add a card to his stockpile and had to discard both cards, he only receives one new face-down card. These cards are the active cards for the new round. A player with only one active card may choose any card he wishes from his stockpile to be placed face down in front of him as a second active card, even a joker.

  7. Step 7

Flip over a card in the middle, and follow the rules in Step 4 for determining which cards go into a player's stockpile and which cards are discarded.

  8. Step 8

Repeat Steps 6 and 7 until all of the cards in the deck have been dealt.

  9. Step 9

Direct each player to form her best five-card poker hand from the cards in her stockpile. The player with the best five-card poker hand is declared the winner and receives a point.

  10. Step 10

Play until one player wins five points. That player is declared to be the winner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Jokers can be very powerful cards. Remember that you can only add one to your active cards if you have one in your stockpile and failed to add any cards to your stockpile in the previous round.
  • Players that are good at tracking cards will have an advantage, as they will know what their opponents hold in their stockpile cards.
