New Years

The end of a year usually prompts a reflection on what has been accomplished in the last 12 months and what might be done differently in the coming year. If you have thought that far ahead, has 2008 given any information about approaching 2009? If not, consider the following to help you focus.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Recharge so you can move ahead. Regrouping and recharging are essential to being able to move forward and achieve all you’ve set out to achieve. Be sure to maintain a larger picture to so you can stay centered. It may sound cliché, but don’t sweat the small stuff- what you could have or should have done is behind you. You have a clean slate, plan accordingly.

  2. Step 2

Spend Wisely. Cash flow is often a concern for many of us, especially in these tough economic times, so many of us need to weigh what we buy more carefully now than ever. Pledge to start a savings account if you haven’t already, make some wise investments, and bypass the trinkets and the impulsive purchases.

  3. Step 3

Center on your passion, not the passing time. Ask yourself: Would I rather spend them doing something I only mostly like or sort of like? Or would I rather spend them doing something that I really like that's going to get me doing something I really love? Time will pass no matter what you’re doing; the question is, what will you have accomplished at the end of that period. So, get that degree, pick up that new hobby, or take that long-planned trip.

  4. Step 4

Take better advantage of your talents. Many of us spend our time doing for others, whether personally or on the job what we don’t do for ourselves e.g. the web designer with a terrible website, the spa worker that’s never been pampered or the designer that dresses terribly. Take the time to apply your particular brand of talent to something benefiting you.

  5. Step 5

Ignore Sensationalism. Tune out bad news! Choose to shut out some of the negativity floating around out there via the media or the people in your life that just thrive on drama.
