Things You'll Need:
- strong constitution
- shopping list
- time conciousness
-
Step 1
Minimize the times that you eat out. Take time to prepare more meals at home. Cook enough so that it will last for two days. This saves time and money.
-
Step 2
Take time to prepare a list ahead of time when you go grocery shopping at your favorite supermarket. Try to go strictly by the list . Don't shop when you are hungry because you tend to spend more and buy all kinds of unnecessary foods.
-
Step 3
Shop at food warehouses and buy as much as possible in bulk using grocery coupons. The prices will be cheaper and closer to the wholesale cost. Buy generic brand and this will also save money.
-
Step 4
Pay bills on time to avoid late fees, especially on credit cards. Pay close attention to your monthly statement because some companies change the due date every month and cause you to pay a late fee. These fees can accumulate so quickly and become a huge debt. Use online bill pay and you can pay the same day and have the payment credited.
-
Step 5
Conserve electricity in your home. When possible turn off lights in rooms that you are not using. Lighting accounts for a huge part of the expense. Unplug all electrical appliances, etc. that are not being used. Keep the thermostat on about 68 degrees to help conserve also.

on 3/24/2009 I already know all of these tips, but I really need to print this out. It's a perfect reminder -- short and to the point. Good job!

on 1/14/2009 Good reminders. Also, determine which day of the week the food store flyers are in the newspaper. Take the time to compare the ads to get the best deals on items you use most often (maybe your favorite store isn't always the best deal).
