Instructions

    • 1

Open your tea bags, use a good one that you like hot.

    • 2

Fill a 2 quart pan about half full of water and get to a boil.

    • 3

Toss in the tea bags and let it boil for about a minute.

    • 4

Let it sit until you can comfortably stick your finger in the liquid.

    • 5

Measure out 1/2 cup sugar in the 2 quart pitcher. You might want a bit more or less depending on your taste, but this is average. You can use whatever sugar you wish, even a 'fake' one.

    • 6

Scoop out the tea bags and gently squeeze the liquid out and discard (mulch them if you have a mulch pile, yard waste if they have that in your area!).

    • 7

Pour the warm tea in the pitcher and stir until dissolved.

    • 8

Fill the rest with cold water and put it in the fridge (see warning below!!).

    • 9

Toss some ice in a glass, and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • True Southern, add a sprig of fresh mint.

  • Refrigeration will make it cloudy, drink right away for perfect, clear tea.

  • Don't give this to young kids, you WILL regret it. Picture the Tasmanian Devil with a sugar/caffeine buzz!!

  • Do NOT leave out, make sure to refrigerate! it can develop Coliform bacteria. Just as bad as the name implies.

Great article. As a safety note, NEVER put ice in hot tea, cover and shake, it will explode!
