Things You'll Need:
- wood
- tarp/tent
- water source
- fire source
- tall tree
-
Step 1
Avoid still water that attracts mosquitos.Choose a campsite on level ground that is not too high in elevation that you will get cold. Also avoid camping low enough in a valley that you could risk flood. Having a source of water within two-hundred to four-hundred feet of the campsite is optimal.
-
Step 2
TentSet up your tent or tarp facing east for the morning sun. Before you lose light have your bedding prepared for the night.
-
Step 3
CampfireTake the wood and set up a fire pit about two hundred feet from camp. Make sure that the wind will not blow the fire in the direction of the tent. Also food attracts animals, so you do not want the fire near your tent.
-
Step 4
Food bag in a tree at a campsite.Store all food in a bag and hang the bag near the fire up high in a tree. Also dig a hole in a private area to use as an outhouse. Once your camping trip is over, remember to clean up all your trash and break down camp.
