Slice Avocados

Without avocados there would be no guacamole. But, avocados are also delicious on sandwiches and garnishes for salads. Here is an easy way to remove the stubborn seed without smashing up the fruit, along with an easy and quick way to slice and fan an avocado half.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Avocado
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Large Spoon
  1. Step 1

Slice the avocado in half, cutting along the seed. Place the avocado halves on a cutting board.

  2. Step 2

Hit the center of the seed with a large knife.

  3. Step 3

Twist and lift the knife, pulling the seed from the avocado. Tap the seed on a hard surface to dislodge from blade. DO NOT attempt to pull off with your hand.

  4. Step 4

Slice the avocado with the knife, cutting down to the skin, but not through the skin. DO NOT hold the avocado half in the palm of your hand while you do this, or you may cut through the skin.

  5. Step 5

Get out a large spoon. A large serving spoon will work.

  6. Step 6

Scoop out the avocado from the skin, using the large spoon. You can also do this when you haven't made the slicing cuts.

  7. Step 7

Fan the avocado half that you just removed. Use as a garnish for a salad or on a sandwich.
