Breast Cancer Awareness month is the month of October, but you can do things all year round to help beat cancer and support those who have it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The very first thing you can do to support Breast Cancer Awareness is to learn. Learn about the causes, the cures, and what you can do to help your body prevent Breast Cancer. Then, educate those around you. If you have loved ones that already have Breast Cancer, be there for them, and learn from them. If you have loved ones that have beaten Breast Cancer, support them, pay special attention to their needs if they have had a full or partial mastectomy.

  2. Step 2

You can donate to the American Cancer Society at the website listed below in the resource section, or by calling 1-800-227-2345. If you have problems navigating the website, they have a handy tool that you can use to chat with a specialist online! You can also set up a "revolving donation" that will repeat with out you having to go back to the website to donate again. This website donates to all kinds of cancers, not just breast, so make sure to use the drop down box under "destination" to choose your charity.

  3. Step 3

You can volunteer or do fund raisers through the second site in the resources link. They help you set up everything and are with you all the way! Also, a very cool thing through this site is that you can donate a mammogram. A lot of women don't have adequate health insurance, so they are not seen for the yearly mammogram that is recommended, and by donating a mammogram you are giving one woman the chance to catch the cancer in the early stages, and by doing that, you are increasing her chances of survival.

  4. Step 4

At the last link in the resources section you will find the Susan G. Komen Promise Store. This store sells all sorts of Breast Cancer Awareness paraphernalia that part of the proceeds of the merchandise bought goes to Breast Cancer Awareness and finding a cure.

  5. Step 5

Remember, to fight Breast Cancer you have to fight like a girl! Fight dirty! Fight to win!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always perform self breast checks! The next article in this series will be a step by step guide on how to perform them!
