Things You'll Need:
- Caulk
- A steady hand
-
Step 1
First, remove the old existing silicon with a sharp tool, slowly peeling it off. Or, you can apply caulk remover which softens the caulk allowing easier removal. The only thing, it takes a few hours for it to soften.
-
Step 2
Next, the most important task. MAKE SURE the area is completely dry and clean. I cannot stress this enough because silicon kitchen and bath caulks do not stick to wet areas. The dryer the better. You can use dry towels and even a fan to air it all out.

Step 3
Last, buy a tube of kitchen/bath silicon based caulk and cut the opening at a 45 degree angle. Put it in a gun or use a steady hand to apply. A thick enough bead of caulk should be applied so that total protection is had. Long steady passes of beads will look the best and make for a shorter job. Some people use their fingers to get that even look, but buying a cheap ProCaulk or something similiar will give your job a consistency of a professional did it. Look down a little bit after this step and you will see a link to ProCaulk. After this is done, let dry for a few hours or more.
