This is a how to deal with a bleeding pet.

Things You'll Need:

  • Gauze
  • Antiseptic Liquid
  • Towel
  1. Step 1

    If you have a bleeding pet, the first thing to do is to Stay Calm. Especially if there is a lot of bleeding, you will need to be calm. Talk in a soothing tone to your pet.

  2. Step 2

    Next, the bleeding needs to be stopped. To do this, take either the gauze or an old towel and apply to where it the bleeding is flowing from. This may take up a few minutes.

  3. Step 3

    Once you have the bleeding stopped, apply some Antiseptic liquid to cleanse the wound. Use the Gauze to wipe away any excess bleeding. Once the bleeding has stopped, you will want to watch your pet, in case the bleeding begins again. If it does, you will need to repeat the steps. We put a cone on our dog as the bleeding was on the head. This stops movement near the ear.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to stay calm.
  • Have your Vet's phone number handy.
  • Remember that anywhere near the head will bleed a lot.
  • If the bleeding in on the head, put a cone on your pet, to keep them from scratching.
  • Always consult with a professional. If in doubt, call your vet for detailed instructions.
