Shop eBay. There's usually a decent selection of Pottery Barn products on eBay, some gently used but most new with tags still on. A few years ago I was decorating a beach home and was able to find new Pottery Barn Kids surf theme quilts and accessories at 50% off the retail cost. Go to eBay and simply search Pottery Barn or narrow down your search to a specific item you are looking for, for example "Pottery Barn Sabrina Basket".

Wait for sales. As pricey as their products can be, Pottery Barn is also famous for a great sale. As I was writing this article, I clicked over to the Pottery Barn website and saw that there was a 75% off sale going on. Now that's saving!

Use your credit card. Here's where the free part comes in. If you don't have a credit card that has a point redemption feature, now might be a good time to shop around for one that does. The main idea is that for each dollar you spend you get a point that can be redeemed for gift cards. So, let's say you spend $5000 on your credit card (not so hard to do if you pay all your bills via your credit card) you can get a $50 gift card. I have redeemed American Express points for many Pottery Barn gift cards in the past. FREE!

Shop the outlets. Many people don't realize that there are Pottery Barn outlet stores all across the United States. Same products, unbelievable prices. My neighbor recently bought a king sized upholstered headboard from the outlet for $40. No joke. See the Resource section below for a link to the Pottery Barn outlet list. If there is not an outlet in your area, don't fret. I just dialed the outlet in Lancaster, PA and spoke to a sales associate who said they would be willing to ship products as long as it can fit on the UPS truck (no furniture).
