Getting an audio and video signal flowing between your Dell E1075 laptop and your television set requires a cable and patience. The use of 7-pin ports and RCA cables all makes sense once your connection is up and running.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 7-pin to three-male RCA cable; or
  • 4-pin to three-male RCA cable
  1. Step 1

Look on the right or left sides of your system to determine what type of port it has. It will have either a female 7-port S-video out or a female 4-port S-video out.

  2. Step 2

Locate the RCA slots on the television. They are usually located in the front of the unit.

  3. Step 3

Connect your 7-pin cable-to-three-male RCA adapter to the 7-port s-video out on the laptop.

  4. Step 4

Take the remaining 3-male RCA connectors and place them into the open red, white and yellow RCA slots in the television.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your dell has a female 4-port S-video out, use a male 4-pin connector cable that has three male RCA prongs on the same cable. The 7-pin cable has three RCA cables attached to it.
