As more and more people begin to work out of their homes, more people need office space. For some, a modular office is the way to go. A modular office can be put near the house and may very well increase the value of the existing property significantly. People can spend as little or as much as they want on modular offices, as there are many different designs to choose from.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look at your budget. If you have a small budget for your modular office, you can do what my friend did. She bought a modular building from a building supply store, and turned it into a modular office. That meant that she had to do the wiring and interior work herself, but it turned out beautifully.

  2. Step 2

On the other hand, if DIY is not your thing and you have a healthy budget, you may want to go ahead and buy a modular office designed specifically for that purpose. Prices vary depending on the square footage, materials and design.

  3. Step 3

Of course, you don't have to limit yourself to modular office designs only. Just about any modular building could serve the purpose of becoming an office. Choose one that you enjoy, since chances are you'll be spending more waking hours in your modular office than in your own home.

  4. Step 4

If you want to increase property values, make sure that your modular office is made of quality materials. Also, the trend is for modular buildings to have lots of glass. This helps the building blend in to its surroundings. You want your modular office to look fully integrated with the rest of your property.

  5. Step 5

Decide if you want your modular office to have plumbing. If not, you will be able to save quite a bit of money.

  6. Step 6

Think about what sort of space you feel the most comfortable working in. Do you want your modular office to be bright and open with a view? If so, you're in luck, as that is how many are currently designed. If you prefer a more traditional modular office building, however, they are certainly available.

Tips & Warnings
  • Look at many different sources for modular office buildings. Prices can vary enormously, as can materials and design.
  • Enjoy your beautifully designed modular office!
  • Don't go so crazy over the design of a 200 square foot modular office building that you pay $200,000 for it. Well, unless you want to, of course!
