You will learn how to properly lubricate and clean your Planet Eclipse Ego Paintball Marker

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Several Paper towels
  • 2 Q-Tips
  • A damp cloth
  • A 5/64" standard Hex Key
  • A 5/32" standard Hex Key
  • A 3/16" standard Hex Key
  • A 1/8" standard Hex Key
  • Standard paintbal marker lube/oil.
  • A Paintball Barrel Squeegee
  • Needle Nosed Pliers or Tweezers
  • DOW 33 Grease. Can be found here: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=dow+33&_sacat=See-All-Categories
  • Or at your local Paintball Shop
  1. Step 1

REMOVE YOUR AIR TANK AND DEGAS YOUR MARKER BEFORE ANY MAINTENANCE.
Begin by unscrewing then barrel from the marker.

  2. Step 2

Run your barrel squeegee through the barrel until the inside of the barrel is clean of any paint, dirt, or shell debris.

  3. Step 3

Clean the outside of your barrel using a damp cloth and dry with a paper towel.

    For 2-piece barrels:
Unscrew the two pieces and be sure to wipe down any paint that might be around the thread of the second barrel piece.

  4. Step 4

After cleaning the barrel, don't bother putting the barrel back on the gun yet. Just set it aside out of the way until you are finished with the rest of the gun.

I recomend cleaning your marker on a flat, clean, and bright surface.
The benefit of a bright surface is so if you drop a screw, spring, etc. you can find it easily and won't have to take 20 minutes out of your time searching for a spring in dark colored carpet. :)

  5. Step 5

Remove the 3 grip screws on each side of the Ego and then remove the grips from the marker.

  6. Step 6

Set all screws aside into a cup or something with edges to prevent them from falling off of the table.

Note: If you have never taken your Ego apart before, I would recommend using an oragnizer and put all of the screws, and the part that the screws hold to the marker, into each of the slots.
For example: In the picture I have my grip and the 6 screws that hold the grip in one slot.

  7. Step 7

(MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NO AIR IN YOUR MARKER).

Remove the Macro-line from the marker by holding the fitting with one hand and pulling on the hose with the other hand.

  8. Step 8

Your marker should now look like this.

  9. Step 9

Remove the eye covers by taking out the 5/64" hex screw on each eye cover.

  10. Step 10

Clean the Eye covers with a damp cloth and paper towel as needed.

Set the eye covers aside for now.

  11. Step 11

Clean the eyes (the clear plastic things on the end of the red and black wires) of any paint or shell debris.

  12. Step 12

Remove the ball detents (Black rubber pieces that are located just above the eyes) and wipe any paint off as needed.
Also make sure that your detents are still in working condition. (Have no cracks or breaks in the rubber.) If you have a bad Detent, you can purchase more from your local Paintball Shop.

  13. Step 13

After cleaning both eyes and both detents, clean the slots on each side of the marker with a Q-Tip where the eye and detent rest.

  14. Step 14

Re-place the detents back into their slots.

  15. Step 15

Unplug the Solenoid connector on your board by pulling gently on the white connector with a pair of needle nosed pliers or tweezers.

  16. Step 16

Remove the two 1/8" Hex screws underneath the body of the marker holding the grip frame to the body.

  17. Step 17

Pull the Grip Frame apart from the body of the Marker, being very careful not to pull off the solenoid wires.

  18. Step 18

Clean any paint or grease from under the body.

  19. Step 19

Clean any paint or grease from the top of the grip frame.

  20. Step 20

Remove the two 5/64" screws from the silver trigger bracket.

Put them in your cup or organizer to keep them from getting lost.

  21. Step 21

Pull the trigger upward out of the frame and place onto a paper towel.

  22. Step 22

Oil the trigger hinge and pull the trigger back and forth quickly to make the oil get down into the hinge.

Then clean any paint or excess oil from the trigger.
Also, while you have the trigger off, Clean any paint on the grip frame behind where the trigger sits.

  23. Step 23

Replace the trigger and the two small screws, making sure that the screw on the trigger is in front of the metal arm from the switch, And that the green arm on the trigger is in-between the two sensors on the board right below the switch.

  24. Step 24
    How the wires should look.

    How the wires should look.

Re-mount the grip frame to the body being cautious of the solenoid and eye wires. Be careful not smash them in-between the metal of the frame and the body.

  25. Step 25

Re-Connect the solenoid wire to the board.

  26. Step 26

Re-install the eye covers making sure the eye is laying in the slot with the bump in the plastic laying flat on the marker.

  27. Step 27

Re-install the grips, cleaning any paint that is on the grip frame.

Note: If you have after-market grips (Not stock grips) such as the Hybrid grips, You have to be very careful when screwing in the top 2 screws on each side of the grip frame. If you screw them in too far and they go into the solenoid, it can damage your solenoid very badly. This happened to my friend with his Ego.

  28. Step 28

Remove the feed neck by loosening the top and bottom screws.
Then pull the feed neck off the top of the Ego.

  29. Step 29

Clean any paint off from the inside of the feed neck and around the breech of the marker.

  30. Step 30

Put the feed neck back on making sure it is straight. Then tighten the screws.

  31. Step 31

Remove the Regulator from the body of the Ego.

  32. Step 32

Twist the two halves of the regulator to take them apart.

  33. Step 33

Using your tweezers or pliers, pull the spring stack out of the larger half of the regulator.

  34. Step 34

Clean off any oil or grease from the spring and the piston.

  35. Step 35

WARNING: DO NOT Put oil in the regulator! It will DESTORY your marker!

Grease the Pistion O-Ring with the DOW 33 and a Q-Tip. (Or your finger.)

  36. Step 36

Put the two halves back together and screw the regulator back onto your Marker.

  37. Step 37

Re-Attach your macro line by simply pushing in each end of the macro line into the fitting on your ASA and Regulator.

  38. Step 38

Pull the bolt out of the back of the marker.

  39. Step 39

Remove the back rammer cap with a 3/16" Hex Key.

  40. Step 40

Hit the back of the Marker in the palm of your hand until the Rammer falls out.

  41. Step 41

Clean any dirt, oil or grease from the Rammer and Rammer cap.

  42. Step 42

    Oil all three O-Rings.

  43. Step 43

Replace the Rammer back into the gun with this end in first.

  44. Step 44

Oil the O-Rings lightly on the front of the bolt.

  45. Step 45

Replace the bolt into the marker. And replace the Rammer cap back onto the marker.

You have now succesfully lubed and thoroghly cleaned your Planet Eclipse Ego Paintball Marker!

Tips & Warnings
  • ALWAYS remove ANY/ALL air tanks or air supply to the marker before doing any maintenance to it.
  • ALWAYS remove ANY/ALL air tanks or air supply to the marker before doing any maintenance to it.
  • When unplugging the wires from your board, be sure not to pull on the wires themselves. Pull on the white connectors instead. If you pull on the wires everytime you clean your gun, after time, the wires will become loose from the connectors and fall out.
  • If you have after-market grips (Not stock grips) such as the Hybrid grips, You have to be very careful when screwing in the top 2 screws on each side of the grip frame. If you screw them in too far and they go into the solenoid, it can damage your solenoid very badly.
