Catch an Escaped Hamster
Catch an Escaped Hamster

This is a really basic way to catch an escaped critter. This also works with gerbils, pet mice and sometimes even Guinea Pigs. 95% Guaranteed to work.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Books
  • Metal Bin
  • Hamster Bedding
  • Hamster Food
  • Escaped Hamster
  1. Step 1

Shut all doors of the room that the hamster is suspected to be in and place the metal bucket on the floor. Seal up any holes in the walls or on the floor, and shut any other entrances to the room such as dog flaps and ventilation holes.

  2. Step 2

Arrange the books into a staircase, with the highest book leading to the metal bucket. This will trick your hamster into falling into the bucket once it smells the food.

  3. Step 3

Scatter the food all over the bottom of the bucket. Then cover it with a thick layer of bedding. It is important to layer this evenly to ensure that your hamster does not injure itself upon falling. Your hamster will want food, and will fall into the bucket upin realising this.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may wish to line the bottom of the bucket with a blanket to ensure that the hamster is warm during the night.
  • Put some of the hamsters bedding in that it was using prior to escape to lure it in.
  • Do this at night becaus the hamster is more likely to be hungry then.
  • Please ensure a soft landing pad for your hamster to fall onto to ensure that it does not hurt itself.
  • Make sure that the container you use to catch your animal in is metal - it will chew through a card board box.

on 7/6/2009 Not the best idea, since the hamster probably won't crawl up the book case
