If you have an iPod or are considering one, you may be wondering if you can use your purchased MP3s on the iPod. You can, and it is easy to transfer them into iTunes. You can even purchase new MP3s, often at lower prices than the iTunes store, through other online retailers and import them into iTunes. Stores like Amazon have the option to automatically import the song into iTunes.

Step 1

You can transfer CDs directly into iTunes, so you will not need to follow this method to add songs from CDs. However, if you already have music saved to your computer, you can follow these steps.
Step 2

Open iTunes on your computer, and go to File. Go down the list to "Add to library."
Step 3

A small pop up window will open. In that window, navigate to the MP3 you want to import. Select it and click the Open button to add it to your iTunes library. You should now see the song in your iTunes library and will be able to put it on your iPod.
Step 4

Once the song is imported and in your iTunes, you can move it to whatever playlist you want it in.
