Step 1
First, come up with a bunch of romantic words that rhyme like: Toes, rose. Joy, destroy. Heart, part. Cream, dream.
-
Step 2
Compose a couple lines at a time, putting the rhyming words at the end of each line, like ...I really love your toes, they smell just like a rose. You bring me lots of joy which no one can destroy. Your love's like sugar and cream, my glasses it does steam. Notice that it doesn't have to have perfect grammar, it just has to be strangely romantic. This is called leaving room for artistic expression. Your poem can be serious or funny.
-
Step 3
For flow and continuity, keep the same amount of syllables in the rest of your lines that you started with in your first lines.
For example, if you started with: You really are so sweet, My heart it skips a beat. There are 6 syllables in each of these lines. You(1) real(2) ly(3) are(4) so(5) sweet(6). -
Step 4
Add a lot of romantic filler words like love, sweet, heart, and so on.
-
Step 5
Experiment with different words until you come up with 16 lines you really like. (Eight sets of two.)
-
Step 6
You can present your poem by reading it, writing it in a card, doing calligraphy on decorative paper placed in a frame, making a desktop background, or whichever creative way you choose!
