This article will teach you how to cut down your expenses to the bare bones.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Commitment to cutting down expenses
  • Discipline
  1. Step 1

Give up your vices. Get rid of the alcohol, cigarettes and other unhealthy habits you've picked up. Wasting money at watering holes is detrimental to both your health and your finances. If you must indulge, do so at home. But strive to give up drinking completely. Quit smoking...by any means necessary. It should go without saying that you should not be spending money on illegal substances. It is beyond stupid to pay for something that hurts you.

  2. Step 2

Stop wasting money on unnecessary extras. No more visits to the donut shop, coffee hawker or fast food joints. These are all things you might enjoy, but they are not necessary for your health, wellbeing or even your happiness. Invest in a coffee maker. Buy donuts and other pastries sparingly, and freeze them. Prepare your own food. You will save money and live healthier.

  3. Step 3

Obsess about coupons, refunds and rebates. Clip coupons and use them. Promptly send in rebate requests, and follow up on them. If you are owed a refund, stay on top of it.

  4. Step 4

Shop at discount retailers, discount grocers and warehouse clubs. Stock up when products you need are on sale. Always go shopping armed with coupons and special offers. Don't spend a penny more than you need to for any item.

  5. Step 5

Save your spare change. Rather than spending your spare change, systematically save it. You might be surprised how small change can add up to big things.
