So it's time to find a babysitter, huh? Let's explore your options.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • newspaper
  • computer with internet
  • phone
  • other people
  1. Step 1
That's a yummy head band she has!

Finding a babysitter can be a daunting task, but lucky for you, I have some pretty good ideas. The first thing you can do is ask around your neighborhood. Ask other parent's who they use as a babysitter. You can also find a babysitter within the family, but sometimes getting a service from someone in your family can be tricky.

  2. Step 2
I love pink, and apparently so does her mom!

Ask a friend that you trust and know very well. One that is very often with your child, and knows your parenting style. Again, getting services from someone you are close with can turn into a tricky situation, so evaluate carefully.

  3. Step 3

Advertising in a newspaper can be a great way to find a babysitter. Post an ad for a responsible babysitter in such-and-such area, must be experienced, pay to be discussed, must have own vehicle and drivers licence, serious inquiries only, call ###-###-#### ask for "name". That way the babysitters come to you! You can then interview (see my article about getting to know your babysitter in the resources link below), and then make an educated choice.

  4. Step 4
    Blowing raspberries!

Get online and go to craigslist. They have a classifieds area that you can post in to find a babysitter. Don't think just because you live in a small town no one in your area checks craigslist, I thought the same thing and met one of my friends there!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't give up, exhaust all your options, then find some more!

on 4/1/2009 There are a couple other alternatives. I have had great success with tippleBox (www.tipplebox.com). You can search for sitters in your neighborhood by any criteria you need or post a job and let them find you. Best of all, it's free which is a big plus in this current economic climate
