Now that you know what kind of babysitter you will need, let's talk about getting to know your sitter.

Difficulty: Moderate

In the process of getting to know your babysitter, you are going to learn their name, age, and a little about their personality, but there are a few other things you will need to know about them to really make a good choice.

  2. Step 2

The first thing I do when I am getting to know a babysitter is to ask them if they are willing to have a drug test (they have them at Wal-Mart and most drug stores now) and a criminal background check at MY expense. If they say no or you get the feeling they don't want to, can them!!!

  3. Step 3
    Ignore much?

I also ask them if they have had any babysitting experience and if they have been around babies in their life. Just because their 3rd cousin on their mom's side has come over to spend the night twice in their life doesn't mean they know anything about babysitting! However, if they have brothers or sisters that they took an active roll in "managing", they may be worth it!

  4. Step 4
These two are so cute I can barely stand it!

Asking them for references is a great way to get to know what others think of them, but keep in mind, if they are smart they are only going to give you people that think highly of them. Also, you can always see how they interact with your baby and decide if they are being genuine.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always trust your instincts! These are just a few things that you can do to really get to know your babysitter, there are a ton of other things you can ask or do!
