What is a great comfort food on cold winter nights? HOMEMADE CHILI!!!

This homemade chili recipe is quick and easy and can be adapted to your taste. Another great thing about this homemade chili is that it can be made in one pot!!!

If you are budgeting and need a frugal recipe, this is a great one. As you can see in the pictures, I used all Wal-Mart brand ingredients and it turns out great!!!

Enjoy!!!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cans chili beans (mild or hot)
  • 1 can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1-2 packs of chili seasoning (mild or hot)
  • Diced onion (optional)
  • Big pot
  1. Step 1

Brown ground beef in pot. If you are going to add onions, add those now and let them cook while browning the ground beef. Drain ground beef after browning and return to the pot.

  2. Step 2

    Homemade Chili Ingredients

Add 2 cans of chili beans, 1 can of petite diced tomatoes, 1 to 2 packs of chili seasoning, and 1 can of water.

  3. Step 3

Bring to a gentle simmer. Stirring occasionally to keep chili from sticking.

  4. Step 4

After the chili has simmered for about 15 minutes, turn the heat down to medium low and let simmer for about 45 to 1 hour, or until the flavors have "meshed" together, stirring occasionally.

  5. Step 5

    Serve and enjoy!!!

Tips & Warnings
  • Fill one of the chili beans can with the water you are adding. It will pick up the chili flavorings that have been left in the bottom of the can.
  • Grate some cheese to top the chili.
  • Chop some green onions to add to the top.
  • Make a Frito Chili pie using the homemade chili!!!
  • Allow chili to cool a few minutes before eating. This will keep you from burning the inside of your mouth.
  • Allow chili to cool before refrigerating.
