Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
First determine how much your going to spend. Invitations are optional since this is not a formal party. If you have extra cash to spend, definitely go with sending out invitations to your friends for your party. If you do not have the extra cash just call all of your favorite people up and tell them to join you and bring something with them, a snack, a bottle of wine, a case of beer, whatever your style.
-
Step 2
Decorations can be really fun here and are so easy. Buy a pack or two of Happy New Year balloons and blow them all up prior to the party and just drop them all over the room your party will be in or put them in large trash bags and toss them out at midnight. Get those silly part hats, you know the ones, it's supposed to be fun! Buy confetti and set little bags or bowls of it out to toss at midnight. Party horns, poppers, Marti gras necklaces, all of these are fun for guests too. If you have some real cash, go buy some fireworks to blow off at midnight as well. They are a hit with guests at most parties.
-
Step 3
Snacks and drinks are important! If your on a budget ask each guest to bring something with them to the party. Assign what they bring so you don't end up with 10 bags of chips and tap water. It's New Years so bring out the beer and the wine! Make sure you have soda and non alcoholic options for guests who prefer not to drink. The designated drivers get thirsty too! Since it's a late party keep the foods light and easy.
-
Step 4
Keep the music coming! Play music that you and your guests will enjoy. 80's, 90's, today, rap, country, whatever it is you like. Encourage everyone to dance and have a good time. Throw balloons around, blow your party horns, this night only happens once a year.
-
Step 5
Have a way to count down the new year. Flip on the flat screen tv to times square and keep up with all the entertainment and announcements. Turn down the music and turn up the TV about 5 to 10 minutes to midnight. Or you could keep a Flava Flav sized clock hanging around your neck or on the wall to count down by. Depends on your style. Happy New Year!
