Step 1
Compile a questionnaire. The questions should focus more on interests than on academics. This is so that you can find out a bit about how they think and what they are interested in so that you can incorporate that into the student education. It is also important to ask semi-personal questions to reveal things about their home life and upbringing. You can download student interest inventory questionnaires online from many different sources for free.

Step 2
Have each student present their results in front of the class. This will help them to get to know each other better as well as help the teacher to get to know them. Classroom interaction is a huge part of student education. The teacher should take notes about interesting things about each student in order to relate to them personally.
-
Step 3
Add interest in student education by incorporating elements of the students' interests into the lesson plans. There will probably be themes or trends in the class. Focus on these but try to incorporate parts of all the questionnaires so that you are not secluding anyone from student education.
-
Step 4
Another application for the student interest inventory is discipline. Proper discipline is important for student education. These questions will help you to personalize discipline a little so that you can relate it to each individual. On another note, it can also help in dealing with the parents on disciplinary issues as these will likely give some insight into the family life.
