How to Create a Vector Christmas Wreath in Illustrator

Christmas wreaths are everywhere during the holiday season. An illustration of a Christmas wreath can be used to create custom Christmas cards, invitations, decorations, gifts and labels. Another great thing about a wreath is that it can be used as a frame for other pictures, which can be photographs or other illustrations.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a green circle with your ellipse tool. Make sure there is no fill, only a stroke.

    • 2

In your strokes palette, increase the stroke to 100 points.

    • 3

With your ellipse tool, draw a red circle with no stroke. This will be a part of the bow at the top of the wreath.

    • 4

Copy and paste that circle for the other side of the bow. Draw a smaller circle for the middle part of the bow.

    • 5

Draw one small circle for the berries. Hold down the "Alt" key and drag clones from the original circle all over the wreath. You can create as many or as few berries as you'd like. You may stop here for a more simplified wreath illustration.

    • 6

To add a bit more pizazz to your wreath, grab the star shape and draw out little yellow stars in the same fashion as you created the berries. What a festive little wreath!

Tips & Warnings

  • You can get creative with what you put on the wreath. They do not have to be berries and stars, you can make different shapes and colors to your liking.

  • You can use the wreath as a photo frame. Take a photo in Photoshop and cut it in a circle. Now you can bring it into Illustrator and paste it in the back.
