Do a Standing Back Tuck
Do a Standing Back Tuck

I've been a competition cheerleader for 10 years and a gymnast for 6 years or so. I know learning a new skill can be very difficult, so I've broken down the basics of a back tuck to help you out.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Recomended a soft mat.
  • A spotter (to make sure you do not get injured)
  1. Step 1

You will need confidence to perform this skill.
Start with your body straight up and arms and hands straight above your head.

  2. Step 2

swing your arms down a little past your bottom and dip with your legs at the same time.

  3. Step 3

Explode with a jump through your legs and arms swinging back up ward above your head lifting with your chest, shoulders, and arms.

  4. Step 4

Once you have reached the peak of your lift quickly bring your knees in towards your chest and grab your thighs.(this is your tucking position)

  5. Step 5

Once in your tuck position you should be rotating quickly.
Quickly come out of your tuck position when you feel its time to land.
    (timing is key)

  6. Step 6

You have finished the back tuck
    GOOOOOODLUCKKKKK!

Tips & Warnings
  • NEVER throw your head back.IT is not a backhandspring.
  • A spotter is recommeded to guide you threw the motions so no injuries occur.
  • If you feel you are safe to do so with no spotter be sure you are on a mat or a soft surface to break your fall.
