Make a Lace Valentine Card from Paper

This Valentine's Day help your youngster make his or her own lacy Valentine's Day Card by using a piece of white paper. If they can fold paper, and use a scissors, they can do this simple craft project.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White typing paper
  • Red construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  1. Step 1

Begin with a piece of white typing paper. Turn horizontally, so that the width is greater than the height.

  2. Step 2

Fold the paper in half, as if you were creating a greeting card.

  3. Step 3

Draw a half heart, with the half along the spine of the folded paper.

  4. Step 4

Fold the paper like an accordion.

  5. Step 5

Cut little shapes along the edges of the fold. Be careful not to cut through the entire strip, confine the cuts to the two edges.

  6. Step 6

Open the paper, and see that the cut shapes are symmetrical.

  7. Step 7

Fold in half again. Cut along the pencil mark.

  8. Step 8

Open the heart. Iron out the folds if necessary. Paste onto a piece of red construction paper that has been folded in half to create a card.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cut the edge of the heart with a scalloped scissors to give the paper heart a more finished shape.
