Nothing beats the heat (or cold) like a refreshing glass of beer. Pouring a beer the wrong way can lead to flat beer, too much head or various other faux pas. Start doing it right. Learn how to pour a beer the right way.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • beer
  • the right kind of glass
  • a thirsty customer
  1. Step 1

Get the appropriate glass. Different types of beer call for different types of glasses. Pilsner, weizen, goblets, tulips and snifters are some of the more common ones. Make sure you get the right type of glass. If you're just drinking something common, this probably doesn't matter as much and a basic pint glass will do just fine.

  2. Step 2

Pour the beer. Tip the glass at about a 45 degree angle and run about 1/2 of the bottle of beer down the side of the glass. This will prevent any foaming of the beer and excessive head.

  3. Step 3

With the remaining half of the beer, set the glass upright and pour the remaining beer right into the middle of the glass, generating a little bit of head. To help with this process you can raise the bottle of beer as you do this. Plus it looks cool. Contrary to popular belief, a little bit of head is good. Ideally, you want head of about 1 inch.

  4. Step 4

Enjoy! When you're done, have another!
